If you are looking to start your career in building, construction, or carpentry, West Carteret offers a variety of classes to help get you started. West offers Carpentry 1, Carpentry 2, Core and Sust. Construction, and an Intro to Engineering Design PLTW class.
Veneer tech
Construction classes at West can lead to a paid internship and potential career at Veneer Tech through the NC Works and Apprenticeship program. Requirements for this internship are:

2.5 GPA,

Must complete Carpentry 1 and 2, and

an OSHA certification through Microsoft.

The coastal economy of Carteret County has a large demand for workers with skills and certifications in boat building.
